About Patrick

Patrick MacFarland is a lifelong resident of District 2 in Chula Vista. The son of two teachers, Patrick joined his family legacy by pursuing a career in education as well. As an educator, he has focused on empowering students to learn about and interact with their government-- with the belief that future generations of Americans should be taught to use their civic voices to create positive change in their communities.

As a community activist, Patrick has continued his efforts to engage and empower citizens by organizing community meetings and town halls to educate Chula Vistans about their city. He has worked tirelessly to register hundreds of voters and organize events and schools to promote civic responsibility among voting-age students. He has been involved in campaigns and political groups throughout South Bay to increase the visibility of South Bay voters and their influence in the county. He has also been active in Beautify Chula Vista, and volunteered at St. John's Episcopal Church and School tutoring students and reading to seniors.

As a member of the Chula Vista Housing Advisory Commission, Patrick advises on housing issues that impact the community. He also sits on the board for Crossroads II, a land use community group that advocates for smart growth, infrastructure, and bringing more jobs to Chula Vista.

Patrick is known in the community for fighting for those in need-- seniors, homeless, impoverished students, immigrants-- he uses his voice and knowledge of civic engagement to advocate on behalf of those who need it most.

Patrick received his bachelor's degree and certificate in teaching from SDSU. He speaks English, Spanish, and French and enjoys riding his bicycle to Hilltop Park. Patrick lives in Downtown Chula Vista.
